I couldn't resist the opportunity to pick up my "new" 1977 Midget. The price was right, the body looked good, it has only 41,000 miles, and I can barely fit in it. As I said to the seller, unreliable and unsafe, how can you go wrong? I love the idea of having a car where I can work on every system and make it my own.

I couldn't wait even a day to start working on the first project - the rubber bumpers that can only be described as a crime against humanity. 1975 brought new crash standards and apparently the only way the good folks in Abingdon could comply with the regulations was to add these heavy, ugly monsters. You can follow the chrome bumper conversion here.
